"Gring Mill Park" Berks County

One of the most picturesque trail Parks in Pennsylvania! The historic Union Canal has been tranformed into a hiking/running/biking trail that spans through Stone Cliff Park, Grings Mill Park, Berks County Heritage Center, Red Bridge Recreational Area and on to Rebers Bridge. At Reber's Bridge you can continue on the trail till the base of Blue Marsh Dam's Spilling Station. The entire trail is Schuykill Trails System. You can continue on the road and pick up the Thun Trail which runs from Reading across old Reading Railroad beds and bridges and will continue on to Birdsboro Pa. The Trails are very safe are are patrolled by Park Rangers.    

the picturesque Grings Mill Recreational Area is one of my personal favorites for walking, biking, and running. I trained for the ING New York Marathon in 2010 along this trails. there are six tennis courts, a softball field, eighteen station exercise course, one sand volleyball court, and a ranch-theme children play area in Grings Mill Park. In addition there are game court area which features volleyball and shuffleboard courts, quits, and horseshoes pits. There is even a summer concert series held in an outdoor amphitheater on Sunday evenings from Memorial Day till Labor Day.

There are a few lucky home owners who live along this park and enjoy the views with access afforded from the premier location. There are several public access areas with parking, picknic tables, and bathrooms.

This is a must visit destination for any age and ability.
